In this workshop we will learn how the eye and paint work together. This knowledge allows you to paint the invisible, mysterious, and vague as well as the clear, focused and bright. Bringing these two together can give your paintings a brilliant sense of impact that will delight the viewers eyes. This workshop is open to all.

Have you always wanted to try doing a vacation journal? Did someone give you a wonderful leather bound journal with creamy pages but you are afraid to ruin it? Learn how to get past the fear. Discover some of the many ways to compose journals of your thoughts, doodles, watercolors, adventures, friends, and so on. Try as many ideas and media as you can in three hours. Examples and media will be available for your use. Bring your own favorite materials, archival glue and your journal or purchase them at Art Central.

Take only 1 or all lessons at Art Central. This fun & popular series explores drawing using a proven, easy ‘right-brain’ approach, with lecture, demos, student practice & coaching. Students will provide their own art supplies get a Materials List with Registration Confirmation, less than $10 & available at Art Central. Students will use SHADING to achieve REALISTIC & MOOD LIGHTING in drawing. Class focus includes exercises to construct a VALUE SCALE & SHADING A SPHERE. For all skill levels, from very beginning drawing to artists & painters who want to enhance drawing skills in other creative media. 4 Student minimum.

A Different Canvas – Painting on Found Objects

Fee: $30, includes some materials
($35 if registered after July 15th)
Bring YOUR found object, and interesting handmade papers, acrylic colors, etc., if you have, or you may purchase at Art Central. Limited to 10 participants.Create unique, personal works of art using 'found objects' as your canvas. Consider an item made of wood (a small table, wooden shelf, picture frame, framed mirror, old cutting board, tree branch, driftwood), metal (saws, shovel heads, buckets...), or stone. (No glass painting surfaces, please.) You will learn surface preparation, priming, painting and sealing, using acrylics. You will complete about a 10"x10" finished area during our 3 hours so keep that in mind when selecting your object. Bring a photo or sketch of what you would like to paint, or choose from one of the simple patterns that will be available at the workshop.
