Art Central is an art & drafting supply store for local artists by local artists. It is our mission to promote & support the visual arts of San Luis Obispo County. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is ready to help you find what you need to create your masterpieces or discover a new creative outlet! We are also familiar with class supply lists from our local colleges and instructors.

Our gallery proudly hosts a diverse array of fine art by local artists. We have both a fixed collection and monthly rotating shows.  Details on current and previous shows are listed under the Gallery tab and our Blog.

Art Central offers workshops led by professional artists. They are geared to empower, encourage, and inspire artists at any stage of development.  We also have Playdates where materials are laid out for participants to discover new materials and have fun!

We are now offering gift certificates available for purchaseonline

Art Central is currently open for walk-in traffic from 10-4pm Mondays thru Saturdays. Our primary concern is to keep our staff and customers safe.  Please do not come into the store if you are unwilling to wear a mask and to disinfect your hands or wear gloves. 

  • Occupancy is limited to 5 customers at a time.
  • Please be considerate if you see that there are other customers waiting outside to shop.
  • If you’d like to enjoy our current Gallery exhibit while you wait, the gallery is open for browsing, 2 people at a time.
  • Please maintain distance of 6 feet from other customers and our staff.
  • We have hand sanitizer and disposable gloves for those who prefer one over the other. Please refrain from touching anything in the store without gloves or sanitizing your hands in store.
  • We will continue to offer curbside pickup to those who are unable or unwilling to wear a mask and gloves, or are high risk and don’t want to come in.

We will review the above information and make changes as needed. Hopefully, we’ll be able to slowly increase the times that the store is open for business. We ask for your patience as we do so. You may continue to call or e-mail your orders if you wish.
